Reminder from Deuteronomy 20

Today's QT with the Lord reminds me -

1) My LORD, GOD is with me and my family.
     Do not :-
Be fainthearted (of small courage or be feeble minded)
     Be afraid (fear)
     Panic (be disturbed)
     Tremble (be shakened or alarmed)
Because He goes with me and my family to fight for us and to save us.  V 1-4

2) Hebrews 12:2 "Looking unto Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."  Since my family and I have started our faith in the Lord Jesus, He is the Author and Finisher of our faith journey, we are to persevere and run the race of life turning to Him for strength and grace to endure whatever He has set for us.

Hebrews 12:4-13

4In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. 5And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says,
“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,
6because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,
and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”a
7Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? 8If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. 9Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! 10They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. 11No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
12Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. 13“Make level paths for your feet,”b so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.

In Deut 20: 5-7 talks about the man who planted the vineyard, the man who built a new house and the man who is engaged that they should finish their tasks to enjoy the fruit of the labour. These 3 verses reminded me that if man should do that, what more a covenant- keeping GOD. A faithful GOD. A merciful and loving GOD. A GOD who gives and wants the best for us.

Yes, Lord, we need You. Please have mercy on us and heal us. Help us to obey
You and be sensitive to Your Spirit's leading.
