December 2015 DIY project

.

Thank GOD for His blessing of creativity.  We do not have money to buy gifts for our friends and relatives but GOD has given me the gift of giving and service so I enjoy blessing others with whatever He bless us with; even at times like these where my husband has been unemployed for about 10 months and there's practically no income for the family. Sounds ridiculous but GOD has provided somehow and though we cannot give expensive gifts, we still can give something. Hope the recipients do not mind the inexpensive but labour of love put into each and everyone of these mugs and phone covers.

The mugs were painted individually with nail polish made in Korea and I chose to write "Jesus love so and so" to remind the recipients of GOD's love for them each time they use their own special mug 😊

These are the phone cases. The first on the top row was done for a friend's grandson, who loves dinosaurs.  The one next to it is a design I took from Eliza's FB profile (wanted to do one with a design she likes so that she would use it) Oh, the third one was especially done for Pete as he loves planets and universe.  In fact, I especially selected different ones with different verse and design from what I could gather of the recipients' like and dislike. Any ways, none of them really expressed that they like them - so, it does not matter.

As for the phone cases, I especially pick Bible verses and beautify them with nail polish to remind the recipients of GOD's precious Word. I think they are so special because of  GOD's Word even though they may be inexpensive. Unfortunately none of the recipients really like for them as I have not heard from them that they do 😌 It's ok, I tell myself. Everyone has different likes and dislikes so I just do all these as unto Jesus and not be sad.  Sometimes, I ask Him, why give me gifts that make me do foolish things like theses :(  Instead, give me lots of money so that I can buy expensive stuff people would appreciate :)

These 3 were especially hand carried to Eliza and her 2 flat mates. Because Eliza and myself love Colours, I made one with bright and cheerful colours for her 😍  We also sent many small presents to her for her Birthday and Christmas.

Pete's family wanted us to join them for Christmas this year as we have been avoiding this "expensive" occasion each year for the past few years as we can't cope with buying 30-40 presents for his family members. So I told him that we should at least get them something, though small but something personal and from our hearts. It took me many days to paint 30+ individual mugs for each of his relatives.

 These two plastic ones are especially done for his two grand nephews. Hope the recipients like them :)  Blessed Christmas :-)

Gatekeeper

Many years back, I attended a worship seminar at St John - St Margaret church and at one of the workshops, this lady worship pastor shared with us her role as a gatekeeper when it comes to introducing new worship songs to the congregation. They have a worship committee to get through new songs and the lyrics so as to ensure that they are biblically correct.

I brought home this important message, and since then my husband and myself have been practicing this role of gatekeepers by His grace and discernment as older brethrens in the faith. We find this role necessary, especially in these last days when false doctrines come into the church;

Romans 16:17

I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.

Matthew 7:15

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves.

John 14:26

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

GOD knows our hearts and motives- we are concern for the future generation of young believers; the diluting of the Word, the powerful influence of the media, etc.  It has not been an easy task thus far as we have been seen as trying to "show off", "think we are so clever", "nosey", etc. but by His grace, we will stand up for our faith in the Lord Jesus.  Col 3:23 - whatever we do, we do it unto Jesus.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus

1 Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
ye soldiers of the cross;
lift high His royal banner,
it must not suffer loss.
From victory unto victory,
His army shall He lead,
till every foe is vanquished,
and Christ is Lord indeed.

2 Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
the trumpet call obey;
forth to the mighty conflict,
in this His glorious day.
Ye who are brave now serve Him
against unnumbered foes;
let courage rise with danger,
and strength to strength oppose.

3 Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
stand in His strength alone;
the arm of flesh will fail you,
ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the gospel armor,
each piece put on with prayer;
where duty calls or danger,
be never wanting there.

4 Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
the strife will not be long;
this day the noise of battle,
the next the victor's song.
To those who vanquish evil
a crown of life shall be;
they with the King of Glory
shall reign eternally.

May GOD raise up more gatekeepers for Him and His Word in these last days, especially the pastors and leaders who have studied His Word.

Wisdom

Yesterday, I had a minor wisdom tooth surgery at Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital in the afternoon.

Thank GOD that the surgery went smoothly and He provided a skilful dentist who did the job in 20 minutes including the application of local anaesthesia.  The queuing and waiting for the medication to go with it took much longer - 45 minutes.

The wisdom tooth was still quite good and solid but unfortunately it was growing slanted towards the pre-molar next to it, thus affecting both teeth.  So, pay one get one free, the pre-molar extraction came free with it :)  I was still conscious of every movement the dentist made, even the two stitches he did to close up the gum.  Thank GOD all was well in His hands as my husband prayed for me :)

The recovery is good thus far - no pain and discomfort, am still able to eat well and sleep well :)

This is just a wisdom tooth that we can do without but we need the wisdom that comes from GOD above which is found when we fear Him.

"The fear of the Lord is foundation of true wisdom.  All who obey His commandments will grow in wisdom.  Praise Him forever!"  Psalm 110:10
